Supporters of the Zimbabwe national cricket team are hoping for financial support as they look to follow their team into the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India. The passionate fan base, which created a lively atmosphere at Sri Lankan venues during the group stage, now faces a major challenge: funding the trip to India for the next round of matches.

Zimbabwe produced one of the biggest surprises of the tournament by defeating strong sides like Australia and Sri Lanka in Colombo. Those impressive victories helped them top their group and secure a spot in the Super 8 stage, a result that few fans had anticipated before the competition began.

Because of that unexpected success, many Zimbabwe supporters had only planned their travel for the group-stage matches in Sri Lanka. With the tournament now shifting to India for the next phase, fans are scrambling to raise the funds to continue supporting the team from the stands.

Appeals have already been made to local businesses and sponsors to help fund travel for a group of dedicated supporters who want to cheer the team in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Delhi. Fans also hope to maintain a presence in the knockout stage if Zimbabwe continues its remarkable run.

Leading the call for support is Paul Mungofa, head of the popular fan group Brass Band. He urged business leaders to step forward and back the team, as they often do in football.

“I urge local businessmen to support our team, just like they do for football. Let us ferry prominent supporters to the games and create an electrifying environment for our boys,” Paul Mungofa said.

Another passionate supporter, Malvin Kwaramba, emphasised the loyalty of the fan base.

“We have been to every game, every venue. We have celebrated with the team, and we have cried with them. They are like family now,” Paul Paul Kwaramba said. So far, Zimbabwe fans have funded their own travel and match expenses, standing firmly behind a team that has endured challenging years but is now inspiring belief once again.
