Zimbabwe team is scheduled to tour to India in March later this year for one Test and three ODIs, but due to the recent scheduling of the Indian team, the tour seems to be uncertain. The recent development regarding the 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is scheduled to commence on March 23 and the whole of it being played in India might have come as relishing news for all the stakeholders of the tournament but it seems to be unpleasing for Zimbabwe Cricket.

There were reports of Zimbabwe would’ve been touring to India for the first time after 17 years in March. Having said that, the current schedule has put that bilateral tour under some serious threat. India’s tour of New Zealand will conclude on February 10. It will be followed by Australia visiting India for two T20Is and five ODIs with the shortest format matches will be starting on February 24, while the last ODI will be played on March 13.

As per the current scheduling, the hap between the IPL 2019 and Australian series is just 10 days. While conducting one Test match and three ODIs in the same period seems impossible, whether the series will be postponed or entirely canceled will be interesting to see.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni will meet with his counterparts at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) this week in order to discuss the tour.

Zimbabwe would be hoping for the BCCI to postpone the tour, perhaps conduct it somewhere around September. They have toured India for multi-team events in recent times and would be wanting to play a bilateral series now.

As per the recent reports, IPL 2019 will be played in India despite the fact that it will clash with 2019 general elections. However, the date of the final hasn’t been decided yet. The venues had been the subject of speculation given that the dates clash with the general elections, which are expected to take place in April-May.
