Former Australia fast bowler, Brett Lee reckons that the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli should delegate some of the pressure of himself as a captain and a player for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to succeed in upcoming Indian Premier Legue (IPL) 2020. He has been playing for the RCB ever since the inaugural season of the IPL and has been leading the side since 2013 but is yet to win the title.

As a batsman, Virat is second to none, but he has never managed to win the coveted title as the captain. The 13th edition of the IPL got postponed due to increasing cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic and it missed the April-May window. However, BCCI announced IPL 2020 will be held in the UAE from September 19 to November 10 after the T20 World Cup was postponed by the ICC due to the pandemic.

Virat Kohli will be the captain of the RCB, who have been bolstered by the additions of Aaron Finch, Chris Morris, and Dale Steyn, in IPL 2020. RCB is yet to win their maiden IPL title in the 12-year history of the tournament despite reaching the final thrice.

After leading Bangalore based franchise to become runners-up in IPL 2016, Kohli has been struggling to make RCB win crucuail game in the recent edition as a result they have finished 8th, 6th, and 8th in the 8-team table over the last 3 years. In 177 matches for the Bengaluru-based franchise, Kohli has racked up 5412 runs, including five centuries.

Talking about the same, Lee said, “Because he is so good at that level, I think sometimes with all the pressure going around in the team, people are failing, he tries to get all the players on his back and tries to carry them. All the RCB squad should help out in taking all the pressure off Kohli. I think Aaron Finch could play the role of vice-captain to Virat Kohli.”
