Ian Bishop Feel Babar And Virat Make Him Remember Sachin Tendulkar

Former West Indies fast bowler, Ian Bishop reckons that both Virat Kohli and Babar Azam made him remember the batting of Sachin Tendulkar. During a recent Instagram live session with former Zimbabwe pacer Pommie Mbangwa, Bishop talked about Kohli and Azam.

During the interaction, Bishop said, “Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, who in terms of the straight lines, you remember Sachin Tendulkar, there’s a reason why I think he was the best batsman I bowled to as he always played in the straight lines and these two guys (Kohli, Azam) present that.”

Over the last couple of years, the comparison between both Babar and Kohli have been increasing each passing day, looking at the styles of both the batsmen. Babar is currently standing the numero uno position in T20Is while Kohli is holding the no.1 position in ODI rankings. The 25-year-old Azam has managed to maintain an average of more than 50 in ODIs and T20Is and a little over 45 in Tests.

On the other hand, Kohli is holding the second position in the Test rankings. He has played as many as 86 Tests in which he has scored 7,240 runs with teh help of 27 centuries at an average of 53.62. His knock of 254 against South Africa at Pune in 2019 remains his highest Test score to date. When it comes to ODIs, the current India captain has played 248 matches and has 43 centuries.

On the other hand, Sachin’s illustrious career ended with 100 international centuries and the batsman is the highest run-scorer in both Tests and ODIs. During the chat between Bishop and Mbangwa, the former Windies pacer also went on to shower praises on the current crop of fast bowlers.

Bishop had said, “Jasprit Bumrah is a generational talent, the ability to adapt to all the formats is brilliant. Kagiso Rabada is someone I find impressive, the first time I saw him was in a T20 match and he was bowling to Kieron Pollard. I am seeing a fast bowling renaissance right now and it excites me.”
