Three members of the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) contingent of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 have been tested positive for Covid-19. The three members include chief executive officer Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner. It is understood that the rest of the squad, which is currently in Delhi, has tested negative. The results have come into the forefront from the latest round of testing on Sunday.
It is understood that Viswanathan, Balaji, and the member of the maintenance staff took a fresh test on Monday morning as they couldn’t;t afford to have a false positive. If they test positive again, they would need to spend 10 days in a designated isolation facility outside the team bubble and will be required to test negative two times before re-entering.

Some of the reports have also suggested that 5 groundsmen of the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi have also been tested positive for the virus. CSK team is also in Delhi along with Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Compared to last season, CSK have had a brilliant season where they are flying high with five wins in seven matches. They are ranked second in the IPL 2021 points table.
Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had confimed that Monday’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had been rescheduled as two KKR players, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, had contracted the virus.

The satteemnt read: “Varun Chakaravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were found to be positive in the third round of testing in the last four days. All other team members have tested negative for COVID -19. Both the players have isolated themselves from the rest of the squad. The Medical Team is in continuous touch with the duo and are monitoring their health. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders have now moved towards a daily testing routine to identify any other possible cases and treat them at the earliest.”
The match was was scheduled to be played between KKR and RCB at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
