If Mohammad Amir manages to get British Citizenship, he will be eligible to play in the IPL 2022. In the past, former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Mahmood was able to play in IPL as he registered for the tournament as a British citizen. However, Amir will find it hard to make it to IPL 2022 due to several reasons. Here are 5 reasons which will make it difficult for  Mohammad Amir to play in IPL 2022.

#1 Relations of BCCI And PCB

BCCI (Board Of Control For Cricket in India) and PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) haven’t managed to organized a bilateral series for almost 9 years now. India and Pakistan last faced each other in a bilateral series in 2012-13 and since then, BCCI has cut bilateral cricket relations with PCB due to the political tensions between the neighbors. BCCI has also barred Pakistan cricketers from playing in the IPL and if the Indian board BCCI allows Mohammad Amir in IPL, it will create a strenuous relation between BCCI and PCB.

#2 British Citizenship

The 29-year-old has also asserted that he has 7-8 years of more cricket left in him and he is yet to get British Citizenship. A person can only be eligible for British Citizenship after he has completed his ILR period of at least one year. Therefore, at present, there is uncertainty about Amir getting British Citizenship before IPL 2022. Moreover, IPL 2022 will also witness a mega auction that will happen one or two months ahead of IPL 2022. Hence, he might not get his British Citizenship on time and take part in IPL 2022.
