In a huge sigh of relief for the Indian team in Sri Lanka, the eight cricketers who came in contact with Krunal Pandya have tested negative for Covid-19. Yesterday, the all-rounder tested positive for coronavirus, which resulted in the match being postponed. and now he will be missing the last couple of matches of the three-match T20I series as well.
Eight members from the Indian team were in close contact with Krunal Pandya. The entire contingent was tested again with the all-rounder being isolated completely from the team. He is said to be shifted to a different hotel for his mandate isolation stint.

The eight close contacts with Krunal Pandya will not be a part of the remaining T20s. Despite testing negative, they will not be eligible to take the field in the second and third T20Is. Therefore, the Team is presented with a selection dilemma across all the departments. Due to precautionary measures, the players have been advised to stay away from the field altogether. The players who were in close contact with Krunal Pandya are Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Devdutt Padikkal, Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Currently, Team India is leading the series 1-0 after a 38-run win in the first game. Suryakumar Yadav struck a composed fifty and Bhuvneshwar Kumar snapped a four-wicket haul. As a result, the second T20I is rescheduled to take place on Wednesday followed by the final game on Thursday. However, the team will be forced to play with a depleted side for the remaining matches.
