Meanwhile, Lockie Ferguson will be donning number ’69’ on his back during the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) banned this particular number due to its double meaning.

An NZC spokesperson recently said: “All the numbers from 1 to 99, “69 is the only number that can’t be used, due to its double meaning.”

However, Ferguson will be donning this number for the first time after sporting it for Auckland. There are some astrological reasons behind this decision.

NZC revealed this on their Instagram, where they put a caption “Lockie Ferguson has a new playing number (69) which is a significant number to him and his family.”

Ferguson will be seen in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021’s Super 12 round, which will go underway from October 23 with Australia taking on South Africa.

In his 13-match T20I career so far, he has grabbed 24 wickets at an economy rate of 6.87 and has similarly good numbers in the One-Day International cricket as well.

New Zealand have a good record in the ICC tournaments in recent years. They have at least reached the semi-finals in every tournament since 2015. In the last two 50-over World Cups, they reached the finals and finished as runners-up. In the T20 World Cup 2016, they were beaten by England in the semi-final.

However, they went a step ahead and in the World Test Championship and won the final after they beat India by eight wickets.
