The argument between Ben Cutting and Tanvir stems from an incident that took place in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018, where Sohail Tanvir, playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors had clean bowled Ben Cutting of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and then gave Cutting a sendoff buy showing him a middle finger of both hands.

This led to Sohail Tanvir being fined 15% of his match fee for making an obscene gesture. Tanvir accepted the sanction handed to him by match referee Denavon Hayles. It seems, that Ben Cutting had remembered the incident from the CPL 2018, and gave it back to Sohail Tanvir after smashing him to all parts of the Lahore Stadium.

During the high stakes match-up, Zalmi batter Ben Cutting smashed Tanvir in the 19th over all-over the park and amassed 27 runs, courtesy of four sixes, a single, and a double. And then, Cutting got some payback as he showed the same finger gesture to Tanvir. This led to an argument between the two. The on-field umpire intervened and dispersed them.

However, in the next over, Naseem Shah managed to get the wicket of Ben Cutting. However, Tanvir was at short third man and took the catch. After taking his catch, Tanvir again showed the finger gesture.
