Former Indian Women’s Team coach WV Raman has showered high praises on the Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya ahead of his first assignment as leader of the Indian team in Ireland. Pandya has been going through a purple patch in his career when he led Gujarat Titans (GT) to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 title in their maiden campaign. The Indian all-rounder’s captaincy skills had garnered a lot of praise from all corners and the latest one to chip in is Raman.
Speaking to News24 Sports, WV Raman said that one of the interesting aspects of the upcoming T20I series against Ireland is the fact that Hardik Pandya will be leading the team. Raman also said, “There will be excitement in this series because Hardik Pandya is becoming the new captain of the Indian team. The way he captained an IPL team raises everyone’s expectations.”

He further added, “His habit of taking responsibility was the best thing I found in the IPL. The expectation is that he will continue in the same way, will motivate everyone nicely.”
The former cricketer also said that Hardik Pandya starting to bowl again is a good sign for the men in blue head of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. He said that this would give India good balance heading into the tournament. Raman also commented that once Pandya regains confidence in his bowling, he would play a crucial role in the squad.
WV Raman said, “The second thing is that Hardik Pandya is a good all-rounder, he has started bowling again, so this will give the team good balance when we go to the World Cup. Once his confidence increases in the bowling, Hardik Pandya becomes an extremely important member of the team.”
When WV Raman was asked if the all-rounder should be India’s first choice T20I skipper, after Rohit Sharma, Raman said that we will have to see how things turn out in his first assignment in Ireland.
