Team India is locking horns with Sri Lanka in the super-4 stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai in a do-or-die game for the men in blue. In the final over of the Sri Lankan chase, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma was seen ignoring the suggestion of Arshdeep Singh as the latter was defending just 7 runs.
Earlier in the game, the Sri Lankan skipper, Dasun Shanaka and asked India to bat first. While the Lankans made no change in their playing XI, Rohit Sharma made a tactical change by bringing in R Ashwin in place of Ravi Bishnoi citing the number of left-handed batters in the Sri Lankan XI. Rohit Sharma gave a brilliant start to India with a breathtaking knock of 72 off just 41 deliveries to take India to 173/8 despite a flurry of wickets in the final few overs.

Dilshan Madhushanka was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, producing sensational figures of 3/24 in his four overs including the crucial scalp of Virat Kohli for a duck. Sri Lanka’s openers came out all guns blazing as they smashed the Indian seamers in the initial overs, hitting their way to 50 in the sixth over itself.
Soon enough, the Lions were cruising at 97/0, but then Yuzvendra Chahal turned the tide of the game in India’s favor by conceding just one run and taking a couple of wickets. The change in momentum saw Sri Lanka lose one wicket after another, putting India back in the driver’s seat.

However, eventually, a brilliant partnership of 64 in just 35 deliveries between Bhanuka Rajapaksa (25 off 17) and skipper Dasun Shanaka (33 off 18) took the Lankans home with a ball and six wickets to spare. Coming back to the incident, Rohit Sharma was seen getting no attention to what Arshdeep Singh was suggesting during the last over. It seemed like Rohit was more persistent about his plans rather than listening to the young fast bowler who was bowling the last over.

Here is how the netizens reacted to the incident:
BCCI has to take a strong decision to remove Rohit Sharma from captaincy. He is not a captaincy material. The bodylanguage of Rohit Sharma has become a meme. The panic is clearly visible on the face of Rohit Sharma in pressure situation. Bring back Virat Kohli as captain of India

This is really bad, seriously. No point going to the dressing room & hugging them if you are doing these on field to youngsters. https://t.co/QvYfuRFd6P
