Pakistan’s premier pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi has come hard on the former Pakistan cricketers as the men in green reached the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Pakistan grabbed an off chance with both their hands after South Africa was knocked out of the tournament by the Netherlands on Sunday, November 6. Pakistan registered a dominating win over Bangladesh in their last final Super-12 match and entered the semi-finals of the competition, which looked impossible even a few days back.

The team had lost their first two matches of the Super-12 against India and Zimbabwe, which pegged them back in the group table. Former Pakistan cricketers had immensely criticized the Pakistan team and management soon after and asked for a revamp of the team.

Shoaib Akhtar in a passionate rant slammed the PCB, the team, and the team management for their mediocre performance and said that this will always be the result if the team did not have an elite mentality. But a couple of strong wins in the final two matches of Super-12 saw Pakistan go through to the semi-finals alongside India from their group.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi came out in the press conference after their win against Bangladesh and asked for better support from the former Pakistan players. He said that the team managed to enter the semi-finals because of the fan’s prayers and hoped that the legends of the nation will extend the same support.

Shaheen Afridi said, “We reached the semi-finals because of fan’s prayers. I sometimes feel in my heart that our top cricketers need to support us at our difficult time, and not when we reach semi-finals or finals. Team needs support when they lose. We won because of the fans’ prayers and their support.”

Pakistan will now be locking horns with New Zealand in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, while India will take on England.
