Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has come hard on Rishabh Pant and raised questions about his fitness, saying the India wicket-keeper batter is “overweight” and, because of that, “not very agile”. While talking about Rishabh Pant’s batting in the first Test against Bangladesh, Salman Butt said that Pant would be able to play his innovative shots if he was fit. The Indian wicket-keeper batter tried to take India out of the troubled waters after an early collapse but got out for 46.

In the latest video on his Youtube channel, Salman Butt said, “Rishabh Pant was playing the way he likes to, but he went for something innovative and got out. It was a weird dismissal as the ball hit the bat, pad before rattling the stumps.”

He further added, “I always speak on Rishabh Pant’s fitness because of the kind of shots he plays and tries to innovate, it would be easier for him execute those shots if he was fit. I think he is overweight. Definitely, he is overweight and because of that, he is not very agile. He is under the level where he should be, in terms of fitness.”

Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Kuldeep Yadav helped the Indian team to recover and register a respectable score of 404 in their first innings. In reply, Kuldeep took five wickets and Mohammed Siraj took three wickets as India bundled out Bangladesh for 150. Instead of giving a follow-on, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill came out to bat.
