The Mumbai Indians (MI) leg-spinner, Piyush Chawla picked up another impressive dismissal in the ongoing IPL 2023 match against Gujarat Titans (GT) as he got the wicket of Vijay Shankar at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The leg-spinner has been in fine form in the ongoing season of the tournament. He has constantly performed for the five-time champions this season and made an instant impact against GT.

After posting a mammoth total of 218 for 5, the hosts started well with the ball. They had teh visitors reeling at 48 for 3 at the end of the powerplay. And while the reigning champions would have loved Vijay Shankar and David Miller to bring the chase back on track after the poor powerplay, their hopes were dashed by Piyush Chawla.

Right after the powerplay ended, Rohit Sharma introduced Piyush Chawla into the attack and the latter made an immediate impact. He castled the right-handed batsman with a wrong ‘un.

On the first ball of the 7th over, Vijay Shankar completed failed to read the delivery from Chawla. He lunged forward to play a defensive shot but completely failed to read the wrong ‘un. Chawla’s delivery spun and beat the inside edge before passing the bat and pad to hit the top of the off-stump.

Talking about the game, Gujarat Titans were in a precarious situation. They are reeling at 136 for 8 by the end of the 16th over with Alzarri Joseph and Rashid Khan in the middle. Rashid and Joseph are just teh tail-end batters and don’t seem to be pulling off a win today. A win against Mumbai Indians will seal Gujarat Titans’ place in the playoffs.
