Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a dominating 112-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 60th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. RCB bowlers bundled out RR for a meager score of 59 runs inside 11 overs. RCB’s bowlers looked as if they were on a mission. RR had a terrible start to their run chase of 172 runs as they lost 5 wickets and managed to score 28 runs in the powerplay overs.
Wayne Parnell was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped as many as 3 wickets of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Joe Root, which changed the course of the match. RR’s batters lacked mental application against the spinners. Shimron Hetmyer played a fiery cameo of 35 runs in 19 balls and struck 4 sixes and 1 four.

Hetmyer should have batted a bit more responsibly given the fact that he was the recognized batter after the team was reduced 50-7 in 8 overs. Earlier in the match after electing to bat first, RCB posted a competitive total of 171-5. Surprisingly, it was the teamwork from the batting unit as the rare failure of Virat Kohli didn’t have any effect on the team much.
Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis took their time and then unleashed an attack on the opposition. Maxwell seemed as if he was in beast mode as he amassed 54 runs in 33 balls and struck 5 fours and 3 sixes. At the back end of the innings, it was the quick-fire cameo of Anuj Rawat who scored 29 runs in 11 balls and struck 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Perhaps, RR made a mistake by not including Trent Boult in the XI for the clash. Adam Zampa made the most of the opportunity by taking a couple of wickets and conceding 25 runs in his 4-over spell. The likes of R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal weren’t amongst the wickets which hurt the team a lot and were somewhat expensive. RCB fans would be pumped up as the side is placed in 5th position on the points table with 12 points from 12 matches with an NRR of +0.16 and are still in the race for the playoffs.
Here is how the cricketing fraternity applauded RCB for annihilating RR:

Talk about storming back up the table. #RCB doing it in some style. That no-ball is hanging in the air around the #RR dug-out

What a win💪

What a win for #RCB! At the top, @Gmaxi_32 and @faf1307 adapted really well to the slow deck. @AnujRawat_1755's 11-ball 29* added the finishing touches. And the bowling effort was really impressive, especially by @WayneParnell in his spell of 3/11.
A thumping victory. #RRvsRCB… pic.twitter.com/NkNVfc2vXw

KGF are proving to be enough for RCB to stay in the hunt. Also, RCB have won all day-games this year. All defending. Bowlers had gone off the boil in the last couple of games…but picked up today and how. 👏👏

Extremely disappointed with the casual approach of our batters in such a key match of qualifying scenario. Pathetic loss.

Terrific bowling show by @RCBTweets to bowl #RR out for just 59 runs. They move to the fifth spot with 12 points. Two big games coming up for them. #IPL2023
