Despite not officially announcing his retirement from the IPL, Dhoni has expressed his commitment to return for another season to delight fans. In the video that gained traction on Instagram, Dhoni playfully cut a cake alongside his gym buddies and humorously quipped, “Hum khilayenge (I will serve). Kaun kaun kha Raha hai Aur kaun kaun dieting pe he vo batao (who’s dieting and who’s eating, first tell me that).”

Throughout the last season, MS Dhoni grappled with an injury, yet he valiantly participated in all matches for CSK, successfully guiding them to secure their fifth IPL championship.

Despite visibly struggling with his movements due to the injury, Dhoni’s determination remained unshaken as he continued to lead CSK with exceptional performances. To optimize the final overs, he even adapted his batting role, stepping onto the pitch in the last couple of overs.

Following the season’s conclusion, Dhoni promptly underwent knee surgery in Mumbai to address his lingering knee issues. Confirming the surgery, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan informed, “Yes, Dhoni has had a successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. He is doing fine and the surgery happened in the morning.”

Speaking after the IPL 2023 final, he candidly stated, “Looking for an answer? Circumstantially, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over… The harder thing would be working hard for 9 months and trying to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, won’t be easy on the body.”

Dhoni’s dedication to maintaining peak fitness while nurturing his passion for cricket continues to earn admiration from fans and fellow players alike.
