Team India has continued to shine in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, securing a spot in the summit clash with impressive victories over arch-rivals Pakistan and Sri Lanka. India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, delivered a dominant performance, defeating Pakistan by a staggering 228-run margin. Subsequently, they overcame Sri Lanka by 41 runs in a match where they faced some challenges but ultimately emerged victorious.
India posted a total of 213 against Sri Lanka, and despite their relatively low score, the team showcased remarkable prowess with the ball to successfully defend their total. Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer, expressed his opinion on India’s performances, stating that the victory against Sri Lanka was even more convincing than their triumph over Pakistan.
Gautam Gambhir remarked on Star Sports, “This victory for me was more convincing than Pakistan. We won against Pakistan by 228 runs, but this would give them a lot of confidence.”

While discussing India’s performance, Gautam Gambhir highlighted the performances of key players, particularly Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. Bumrah contributed with two crucial wickets, while Kuldeep impressed with four wickets, playing pivotal roles in India’s successful defense of their target against Sri Lanka. Gambhir emphasized that strong performances from both Kuldeep and Bumrah would boost the captain’s confidence.
“Defending 213 against Sri Lanka, they are a really good side playing against spin. This would give them a lot of confidence going into the final and then the World Cup. The moment your Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav start firing, I think it gives a lot of confidence to the captain,” said Gautam Gambhir.
