Punjab National Bank (PNB), an Indian multinational banking and financial services company, has recently got a lot of limelight for all the wrong reasons. The fraud of a whopping amount of ₹11000 Crore was revealed by the bank and held one of the richest men in the country, Nirav Modi, responsible for the same.

The news spread like a contagious disease throughout the country which also hampered the image of the bank. However, there are certain possibilities that, now the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who is the brand ambassador of the PNB, might cancel all his ties with them.

PNB had named the high profile cricketer as their brand ambassador in 2016 in order to enhance their image which had taken a hit due to rising frauds against the bank. Even Virat had then recommended everyone to open their accounts in PNB as he himself was the account holder in the same bank since the age of 16 years.

After Nirav Modi’sraud case with the PNB, there are rumors taking turns that Virat Kohli might give up his position of being the brand ambassador of the bank which has hit India like a wildfire. Even the image of the Indian star batsman might get a hit if he continues his relationship with PNB.

As quoted in the International Business Time, one of their sources said, “For a few days now, Punjab National Bank’s scam has grabbed headlines and it’s obvious that Virat who is the face of the brand feels that he should walk away from them. Like any other celebrity, even Virat would not like to be a face of the brand which has been in a negative light.”

The source also evoked that even MS Dhoni had canceled all his ties with Amrapali Group after they were indicted for delays in their projects. The source further added, “Even MS Dhoni who was the brand ambassador of the high profile Amrapali Group, snapped his ties after the brand was accused of delays in construction projects and several other complaints.”
