Indian speedster Prasidh Krishna would have been dropped in the Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma era, believed Sanjay Manjrekar after the conclusion of India’s first Test match vs South Africa. However, Prasidh had a tough match on his debut Test match in Centurion. He claimed just one wicket after giving away 93 runs in 2 innings of the game as well.
Manjrekar also argued that Indian cricket fans would not be unhappy if Prasidh was dropped and they might want to see Mukesh Kumar in the second Test match as well.

“If Mukesh Kumar plays, I don’t think too many people will be unhappy. They will be looking at how he is bowling in the nets and think if it is fair on Prasidh Krishana because that is something the new management cares about, giving a fair run. The earlier team management would have been ruthless. Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri were trigger-happy with such things,” Manjrekar said while speaking on ESPNcricinfo.
However, the veteran also stated that the current management under the guidance of Rahul Dravid might not work in the same way and might give the pacer one more chance to prove his worth in the longer format as well. Apart from him, questions were also raised on veteran all-rounder Shardul Thakur’s performance with the ball. Manjrekar said that Thakur will continue to be in the Indian team because of his batting ability, especially in overseas conditions.

“These guys might give one more go. But it is a two-match series, they might be keen to make changes. Shardul Thakur plays because he can bat. He plays especially in foreign conditions because India is always a little wary of their batting, and you saw why India is a little uncertain about their batting, and hence, Shardul Thakur tends to make the playing XI,” Sanjay Manjrekar concluded.
