In a tragic turn of events, a State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) jawan, associated with the security detail of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, reportedly took his own life at his residence in Jamner town, as per officials in Jalgaon. The deceased, identified as Prakash Kapde, allegedly shot himself in the neck with his service firearm during a brief visit to his ancestral home.
Kapde, aged 39, leaves behind his elderly parents, wife, two young children, a brother, and other family members. Senior Police Inspector Kiran Shinde of Jamner Police Station stated that the incident occurred around 1:30 am on Wednesday at the victim’s residence. While initial investigations hint at personal reasons behind the alleged suicide, authorities are awaiting further details from the probe.

Shinde cautiously remarked, “As per preliminary investigations, he may have taken the extreme step owing to certain personal reasons, but we are waiting for the full details of the probe.” Kapde’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the Jamner Police have filed an accidental death report pending additional inquiries, which may include interviews with family, colleagues, and acquaintances.
