As the countdown to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 intensifies, cricket enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating one of the most highly anticipated events in sports history: the India vs. Pakistan match scheduled for June 9, 2024. In preparation for this electrifying showdown, Star Sports Network has released a new promo, featuring the iconic ‘Mauka Mauka’ characters, who have become synonymous with the intense rivalry between these two cricketing giants.
The latest installment of the ‘Mauka’ campaign, conceptualized and produced by Disney Star’s in-house team, captures the humorous and spirited banter between two fervent fans—an Indian supporter, Ratan, and a Pakistani fan, Altaf. This friendly rivalry has entertained fans for years, symbolizing the deep-seated competition and camaraderie that exists between the two nations.
The promo highlights memorable moments from past encounters, such as Ratan’s sleeveless Dhoni jersey commemorating India’s 2007 World Cup win and a sledgehammer gesture following Pakistan’s defeat in 2012. These gestures humorously reflect India’s dominance in ICC events, despite Pakistan’s historic first-ever victory over India in the 2021 T20 World Cup. This victory added a new chapter to their rivalry, making the upcoming match a highly anticipated event for cricket fans around the world.

The campaign is targeted at casual fans who tune in for major events, and nothing is bigger than an India vs. Pakistan clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Alongside the promo film, the broadcaster will leverage other in-house platforms, both linear and digital, to build excitement for what has been dubbed the “Greatest Rivalry.”
At the launch of the promo, former Pakistani cricketer Misbah Ul Haq remarked on India’s historical dominance in World Cups. He noted, “The thing in World Cups is that India has something special. No matter how well Pakistan performs, in the World Cup, India always wins. The previous records suggest that Pakistan has performed better against all teams in World Cups but has only won once versus India, which happened in Dubai.”

Harbhajan Singh, reflecting on India’s T20 World Cup triumph, said, “It’s such a great feeling to get the World Cup trophy in our hands. Even if it was the T20 format, it was the first time, and the feeling was something else. Some moments in your life define you, and there was no greater feeling than that World Cup trophy. I thank Misbah also because if he didn’t get out, we wouldn’t have won!”
The campaign film emphasizes the unparalleled cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan, an intense battle between two proud nations. The high stakes lead to much off-the-field banter and conversations among fans, each side vying for bragging rights after the match.
