After a disappointing first-innings total of 150, the Indian pacers staged a remarkable comeback, skittling the hosts for just 104 runs. Bumrah led from the front, claiming a brilliant five-wicket haul, proving too formidable for the Australian batting lineup.
India eventually secured an emphatic 295-run victory, thanks to centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli in the second innings. Reflecting on the triumph, Bumrah credited the team’s preparation and resilience, emphasizing the importance of belief.

“Very happy with the beginning. We were under pressure in the first innings, but the way we responded after that makes me very proud,” he shared. Drawing on his experience from the 2018 tour, Jasprit Bumrah noted, “The wicket starts soft but gets quicker. This one was less spicy than the last, but our preparation paid off. I told the team to trust their process and ability.”
Jasprit Bumrah also praised the performances of Jaiswal and Kohli. “Jaiswal has had an incredible start to his Test career. This was probably his best innings, as he balanced his natural attacking instinct with excellent judgment outside off. As for Virat, I never doubted his form. On tough wickets, it’s hard to assess a batter purely by runs. He looked solid in the nets,” he added.

India takes a 1-0 lead in the five-match series as they gear up for the next Test in Adelaide, which will be a Pink-ball match starting on December 6. To secure a direct spot in the World Test Championship Final 2025, India aims for a series win of 4-0 while focusing on maintaining their dominance. Bumrah also expressed gratitude for the steadfast support from fans, stating, “Playing in front of such passionate crowds is always special.”
