Virat Kohli may be making headlines for his exceptional form in IPL 2025, but off the field, his restaurant venture is facing scrutiny. Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park Police have registered a case against Kohli’s One8 Commune for allegedly not having a designated smoking area on its premises. The case has been filed under various sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), which governs public smoking laws in India.

This isn’t the first controversy surrounding the upscale restaurant. Last year, an FIR was filed against the establishment for operating beyond the permitted hours, and in December, the BBMP issued a notice for not securing a fire safety No Objection Certificate.

While Kohli has stayed mum on the issue so far, the recurring violations have sparked conversations about celebrity-run businesses skirting regulations. Meanwhile, Kohli was also in the spotlight for his on-field antics during IPL Qualifier 1 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

The veteran was caught sledging young Musheer Khan, reminding the debutant that he was recently serving drinks to senior players. The remark drew mixed reactions from fans — some criticized the tone, while others defended it as typical high-pressure cricket banter. In a heartwarming postscript, however, Kohli gifted his bat to Musheer after the match.

On the field, Kohli has been nothing short of dominant. The 36-year-old has piled up 614 runs in 14 matches at an average of 55.82 and a strike rate of 146.54, including eight fifties. His consistency has been central to RCB’s resurgence.
