West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd lit up the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 with a blistering knock for Guyana Amazon Warriors on Wednesday, August 27. Playing against the St Lucia Kings at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, the 30-year-old all-rounder walked in at No. 7 and completely changed the momentum of the innings.

Romario Shepherd remained unbeaten on a breathtaking 73 off just 34 balls, an innings decorated with five fours and seven massive sixes. One of the most talked-about highlights of Shepherd’s innings came in the 15th over against Oshane Thomas, where he showcased rare batting fireworks.
Thomas overstepped three times in the same over, and Shepherd capitalised fully by smashing three consecutive sixes on free hits. With only one legal delivery counted, the West Indies star plundered 20 runs off a single ball, sending the crowd into a frenzy. The extraordinary moment was quickly clipped and shared on social media, going viral within minutes.

Shepherd’s power-hitting is not new to fans. Having represented the West Indies in 39 ODIs and 63 T20Is, he has built a reputation as one of the most destructive finishers in modern cricket. His CPL heroics come just months after his exploits in the IPL 2025, where he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

While his batting opportunities were limited, Shepherd still managed to leave a mark by scoring 70 runs in three innings and claiming six wickets across eight matches.
The standout moment of his IPL campaign was his whirlwind knock against Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3. Walking out when RCB needed quick runs, Shepherd smashed his way to a 14-ball half-century, the second-fastest fifty in IPL history.

The record for the fastest still belongs to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who reached fifty in just 13 balls for the Rajasthan Royals against the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023. Shepherd’s recent form in CPL 2025 is yet another reminder of his value as a genuine all-rounder who can single-handedly shift the course of a game. For Guyana Amazon Warriors, and indeed West Indies cricket, his return to form is a timely boost ahead of future assignments.
