“I had to start from zero after my surgery, even learning how to walk again. Irfan bhai spent a lot of time with me, showing me how to keep the seam upright and sharpen my skills. He and Zaheer bhai also advised me on performing in red-ball cricket. I am fortunate and grateful to have them accessible whenever I needed guidance,” Khaleel hamed told ESPNcricinfo.

Khaleel Ahmed emphasised the discipline required to succeed in multi-day cricket, highlighting the physical and mental demands placed on a fast bowler. He has been focusing on improving his fitness and mastering new techniques, including generating late swing with the ball.

“You need to prepare your body for the rigors of bowling 20-25 overs in an innings. Managing travel, recovery, proper sleep, and avoiding distractions are all part of it. As a fast bowler, I take care of my body every single day,” he explained.

The pacer also spoke about his hunger to represent India at the highest level. Despite injury setbacks in the past, Khaleel believes the experience he has gained has matured him both as a cricketer and as a professional.

“I am working with patience and waiting for my chance. What you do for the country lasts a lifetime, unlike IPL performances. I want to give my everything to the national team. Mentally, I have faced tough times, but now I feel experienced and confident. I’m just waiting for opportunities, and I know I will succeed,” he said.
