“I don’t blame anyone for non-selection or complain about it. If I’m right for the team, select me; if not, I have no issues. The selectors have the responsibility to do what’s best for Team India. I believe in my abilities, and if given a chance, I’ll give my 100 percent. I’m working hard,” Mohammed Shami told News24 Sports.

The 34-year-old confirmed that he was fully fit and available for the Asia Cup, stressing that selection is beyond his control. He also shared an update on his fitness, referencing the Bronco Test he recently cleared.

“If I can play the Duleep Trophy, why won’t I be able to play T20 cricket? Right now, I don’t have any expectations about my international return. If I’m played, I’ll perform and give my best. Whether I’m selected or not is not in my hands. I have cleared the fitness test in Bengaluru and am ready to go back,” he added.

Shami last represented India in their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, contributing significantly to the title-winning effort. Despite a satisfactory IPL season, he missed out on India’s five-match Test tour of England, reportedly due to BCCI concerns about his fitness and workload management.
