Star India pacer Mohit Sharma has shared a rare story about MS Dhoni losing his cool during a high-pressure Champions League T20 (CLT20) match, proving that even “Captain Cool” had his fiery moments on the field. Mohit recalled how a simple mix-up left Dhoni fuming at him despite him striking immediately with a crucial wicket.

Speaking to CricTracker, Mohit Sharma opened up about his early years playing alongside Dhoni for India and Chennai Super Kings, including the 2015 World Cup campaign. “Mahi bhai has a cool and calm aura. You don’t expect him to lose his temper. As a youngster, you even get a bit excited if he scolds you,” Mohit said.

He narrated a moment against Kolkata Knight Riders when Dhoni asked Ishwar Pandey to bowl, but Mohit mistook the call for himself and started his run-up. “Once I began my run-up, the umpire said I had to complete the delivery. Mahi bhai was furious, and he even abused me on the spot,” Mohit recalled.
Despite the tension, Mohit Sharma dismissed Yusuf Pathan with his very first ball. However, Dhoni’s anger didn’t subside.

“Even while I was celebrating, Mahi bhai kept scolding me. It’s something you don’t forget,” he added with a laugh.
Over the years, Mohit and Dhoni shared many on- and off-field moments, with Mohit becoming a vital part of CSK’s bowling attack. But cricket came full circle in IPL 2023 when Mohit, playing for Gujarat Titans, bowled the final over against his old franchise in the title clash, with Ravindra Jadeja sealing the win for CSK.
