Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan once again grabbed headlines, but this time not for his heated exchanges with Shahid Afridi. Instead, his post on X (formerly Twitter) praising Pakistan’s fielding in their crunch Asia Cup Super 4s clash against Bangladesh went viral on Thursday night.
Taking to X, Irfan Pathan wrote: “Bangladesh’s batting lacked intent — too many dots, too many rash shots. In contrast, Pakistan showed discipline in the field, capped off with some brilliant catching.”

He further added context to the historic moment, noting: “For the first time in 41 years of Asia Cup history, we’ll see an India vs Pakistan final. India have shown their dominance, the gap with others is clear. Pakistan, meanwhile, have shown improvement, especially in the bowling department.”

The clash itself was a dramatic affair. Pakistan, bowled out for just 135, looked vulnerable, but their bowlers rose to the occasion with fiery spells. The fielding effort backed them superbly, as they dismissed Bangladesh for 124 to seal an 11-run victory. Bangladesh’s inability to rotate strike and a series of dropped catches cost them dearly, while Pakistan’s sharpness in the field proved decisive.
