Despite the chaos surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 trophy presentation, Team India ensured a celebratory atmosphere for their hard-earned triumph. Among the standout moments was mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s now-iconic “coffee cup” celebration, which went viral across social media for its creativity and humour.

After India’s convincing victory in the final, confusion clouded the trophy presentation as the official silverware wasn’t immediately available. But that didn’t stop Suryakumar Yadav and his men from celebrating in their own way. The skipper humorously recreated Rohit Sharma’s famous slow walk from the 2024 T20 World Cup final before pretending to lift an imaginary trophy. This moment perfectly captured the team’s camaraderie and lighthearted spirit.
Speaking on Breakfast with Champions, Varun Chakravarthy shared the hilarious story behind his viral post, in which he was seen asleep beside a coffee cup instead of the trophy. The spinner, who claimed seven wickets in six matches at an average of 20.42, said he had planned a celebratory picture with the real trophy — but when it didn’t arrive, he improvised.

“I knew we were going to win. By the time we won the second match, I was sure that if we met them in the final, we’d win. So, I had planned to sleep with the cup next to me. But after the match, there was nothing there — just a coffee cup! So I went ahead with that. The cup can be taken away, but we are still champions,” he said with a laugh.

“I’m not like Arshdeep or Nayar, who are always joking around. I’ve always been quiet, with a touch of dark humour. After practice, I write — it helps me disconnect from cricket and express myself. By the time I’m done, I forget I even have a match the next day,” he added.
The lighthearted story perfectly sums up Varun Chakravarthy’s personality — calm, quirky, and quietly confident, just like his bowling.
