Bihar’s teenage sensation and Rajasthan Royals’ breakout star, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, continues to capture the imagination of fans across the country. Ever since his record-breaking century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the 14-year-old prodigy has become a household name. His blistering ton against the Gujarat Titans made him the youngest centurion in IPL history — a feat that turned the cricketing world’s spotlight firmly on him.

After a dream debut season with the Royals, Suryavanshi carried his form into India’s U19 tours of England and Australia, where he impressed with his fearless stroke play and composure beyond his years. Returning to domestic cricket, he rejoined Bihar for the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, featuring in their Plate League opener against Arunachal Pradesh.

However, his much-anticipated homecoming to the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna didn’t unfold as expected. Suryavanshi was dismissed for just 14 runs in Bihar’s only innings, though the team cruised to an emphatic win by an innings and 165 runs. Yet, the match turned into a celebration for local fans, hundreds of whom turned up to witness their hometown hero in action.

Further cementing his rapid rise, Bihar named the teenage batting sensation as vice-captain for the Ranji Trophy season, under the leadership of Sakibul Gani. Having made his first-class debut at just 12 in the 2023-24 season, Suryavanshi’s journey continues to inspire a generation of young cricketers. Bihar will now look to their wonder kid for inspiration in their upcoming clash against Manipur starting October 25, as they aim to return to the Elite League after last season’s disappointing run.
