Chennai Super Kings appear to be heading toward one of the biggest shake-ups in their history, and the spotlight is firmly on Ravindra Jadeja. The star all-rounder, who joined CSK back in 2011 and became one of the franchise’s most influential match-winners, is now reportedly part of a potential trade deal that could send him to the Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Sanju Samson.

With the retention deadline approaching, the rumours have only grown louder, prompting CSK legend Suresh Raina to issue a firm warning to the franchise. During a conversation with JioStar, Raina shared his list of players CSK should retain and release. He didn’t mince words when it came to Jadeja, making it clear that the franchise should not even consider letting him go.

Raina stated that Noor Ahmad, the young mystery spinner, should definitely be retained alongside MS Dhoni, who is expected to play another season. He also backed Ruturaj Gaikwad to continue as captain. But the strongest endorsement was reserved for Jadeja.

“Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a gun player for CSK. He has done really, really well for the team over the years, so ‘Sir Ravindra Jadeja’ has to be there,” Raina said, underlining Jadeja’s unmatched value.

The former CSK vice-captain also offered clarity on the players he believes the team should move on from. He feels Devon Conway should be released, citing CSK’s need for a local opener heading into the mini-auction. Raina also suggested that Vijay Shankar and Deepak Hooda, both of whom had underwhelming opportunities last season, should be released to free up space for fresh options.

According to him, the mini-auction has enough talent that can better complement CSK’s combination. With the trade window heating up and fan emotions swinging wildly, the big question remains: will CSK stick with Jadeja, or will they roll the dice on a blockbuster move involving Sanju Samson?
