India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj reminded everyone of his white-ball credentials with a decisive, match-winning spell for Hyderabad against Mumbai in the Super League Group B clash of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025–26. The right-arm pacer returned impressive figures of 3 for 21, dismantling a star-studded Mumbai line-up and setting up a dominant nine-wicket win for his side.

Mumbai, captained by Shardul Thakur and featuring the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Ajinkya Rahane, never quite found its rhythm. After a steady start, Mohammed Siraj turned the game on its head in the 17th over. He struck first with a sharp return catch to dismiss Suryansh Shedge, showcasing his athleticism as well as his bowling prowess.
Off the very next delivery, Mohammed Siraj trapped skipper Shardul Thakur lbw, delivering a double blow that left Mumbai reeling in the death overs. Mohammed Siraj wasn’t done yet. He soon accounted for Tanush Kotian for just two runs, effectively shutting the door on any late surge.

Mumbai were eventually bowled out for 131, a total that always looked below par on a good batting surface. Unsurprisingly, Mohammed Siraj was named Player of the Match for his impactful spell, continuing his strong run in the domestic T20 tournament. Hyderabad’s batters then made the chase look routine.

They overhauled the 132-run target in just 11.5 overs, losing only one wicket along the way and underlining the gulf between the two sides on the day. Siraj’s performance comes at a crucial phase of his career.
