Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes Team India’s pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah can dismiss
South Africa captain Aiden Markram, early in the Super 8 match. The clash will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, this evening (Sunday, February 22) as well. Markram is South Africa’s leading run-getter in the tournament, scoring 178 runs across four innings at a strike rate of 187.36.

Irfan Pathan said in his latest YouTube video: “The way Bumrah bowled with the new ball in the last match in Ahmedabad, I am very excited for the match-up against Markram. There can definitely be an outside edge. He will bowl the inswing, which could trap him, but Markam’s outside edge can definitely come if there is rhythm and late outswing.”

He also shared that Varun Chakaravarthy could be Team India’s trump card against South Africa. He also added that the mystery spinner has done a great job so far in the mega event.

“While Varun Chakaravarthy has taken nine wickets, he has not been finishing all his overs. Despite that, he has bowled amazingly. He has bagged a five-wicket haul against South Africa, which is a very rare feat in T20 cricket. So, there will be a lot of confidence, and he will be the trump card,” he stated.
“Varun Chakaravarthy’s bowling will be crucial in Ahmedabad, where we don’t see a lot of turn. We haven’t seen him bowl his four overs regularly. But here, the captain will feel that he would bowl him for five overs. I feel that if India play till the final and he keeps playing till the end and bowls all his overs, he can become the Man of the Tournament,” Irfan Pathan concluded.
