Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has said that figuring out which overseas players to add to the playing XI will be tough for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. The IPL 2026 is all set to begin on Saturday, March 28.

Speaking in a video on his YouTube channel on March 21, Pathan said: “The biggest challenge will also be deciding at which position Cameron Green will bat. If he bats higher up, like at number three or as an opener, then for the other players, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, only one of them can play. If you want to play Pathirana, then there won’t be space for both of them.”

“And in the middle, you have Sunil Narine, so for your overseas players, you already have your most expensive player, Cameron Green, who you have to include. If Pathirana is available, you’ll also want to play him. So these three players are already definite. Now only one overseas spot is left. Who will you play? Finn Allen, Seifert, or Powell? So here, figuring out which player to play is in itself a huge challenge,” he further added.

In the same video, Irfan Pathan also shared that KKR’s biggest strength is in overseas players, including Tim Seifert, Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Rovman Powell, Sunil Narine, Blessing Muzarabani, Cameron Green, and Matheesha Pathirana.
“The overseas players, if all of them are fit and available, are their strength. Whether you talk about Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Sunil Narine, Powell, Muzarabani, and if Pathirana is also fit, then this becomes their biggest strength. And the most expensive player they bought, Cameron Green, if he bowls, then the team becomes even stronger. So, their overseas players are their strength,” Irfan Pathan concluded.
