Sanju Samson endured a disappointing outing in IPL 2026 as his brief stay at the crease left Chennai Super Kings fans stunned during their clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati. Opening the innings alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, Samson managed just 6 runs off 7 deliveries, failing to live up to the high expectations surrounding him.

Coming into the tournament on the back of a successful T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with India, Samson was seen as a key addition to CSK’s batting lineup. However, his early dismissal shifted momentum in Rajasthan’s favour and silenced the home crowd.

The breakthrough came courtesy of Nandre Burger, who produced a quality delivery to dismantle Samson’s defence. Bowling a well-directed outswinger on a good length, Burger got the ball to move away just enough to beat the bat. The delivery went on to crash into the off-stump, leaving Samson with little chance to react.

It was a perfect example of disciplined fast bowling, as Nandre Burger exploited the early conditions effectively. For CSK, Sanju Samson’s early wicket adds pressure on the middle order in what is already a crucial IPL 2026 encounter.
