Rinku Singh rode his luck during Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens, surviving a crucial moment that could have changed the course of the chase. The left-hander was handed a lifeline when South African pacer Nandre Burger dropped a straightforward catch off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling, allowing Rinku to extend his stay at the crease in a pressure situation.

Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive total of 155/9 after opting to bat first. The foundation was laid by their in-form opening pair, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who stitched together a fluent 81-run partnership.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his impressive run, scoring a brisk 46 off 28 deliveries, while Jaiswal contributed a steady 39 off 29 balls. However, Kolkata Knight Riders clawed their way back into the contest through disciplined bowling, particularly from their spin attack.

Varun Chakravarthy led the charge with a brilliant three-wicket haul, removing Suryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, and skipper Riyan Parag to derail the Royals’ momentum in the middle overs. Sunil Narine provided solid support, accounting for Jaiswal and Donovan Ferreira to further tighten the screws.

The lower middle order failed to capitalise, as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Karthik Tyagi then stepped up in the death overs, delivering a decisive spell that included three key wickets. He dismissed Ravindra Jadeja, Shimron Hetmyer, and Ravi Bishnoi, ensuring Rajasthan Royals were restricted to a below-par total despite their strong start.

While Rajasthan’s innings had its moments, it was KKR’s bowling discipline that stood out. However, as the chase unfolded, Rinku Singh’s fortunate escape added another twist to an already gripping contest, keeping Kolkata’s hopes alive in a tightly fought encounter.
