Match 30 of IPL 2026 between the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad delivered high drama, headlined by a fiery start from Jasprit Bumrah. Defending a 200-run target, Mumbai struck immediately as Bumrah dismissed Sai Sudharsan on the very first ball of the chase, sending him back for a golden duck.

It marked a crucial breakthrough for the MI spearhead, who had gone wicketless in his previous five matches despite maintaining tight lines. Interestingly, this was the first time in IPL 2026 that Bumrah was handed the new ball, a move that paid instant dividends.

In earlier games, the responsibility had largely been shared by Trent Boult and others, limiting Bumrah’s opportunities to attack upfront. His early strike not only set the tone but also boosted his confidence, ending a long wait for a wicket after 146 deliveries in the IPL.

Earlier in the match, the Gujarat Titans had opted to field first and made early inroads through Kagiso Rabada, who removed Quinton de Kock and Danish Malewar. However, the Mumbai Indians recovered strongly through a composed partnership. Naman Dhir contributed a valuable 45, while Tilak Varma once again stole the show.

Tilak anchored the innings with a sensational unbeaten 101 off just 45 balls, registering his maiden IPL century. His knock, which included powerful hitting and smart strike rotation, also saw him stitch an 81-run stand with skipper Hardik Pandya. The innings turned MI’s total into a daunting one.

In response, the Gujarat Titans found themselves under early pressure, losing key wickets, including Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, within the power play.
