The biggest talking point about Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 remains the uncertainty surrounding MS Dhoni. As the season progresses, fans are still waiting for clarity on when — or if — the iconic wicketkeeper-batter will take the field. Recovering from a calf strain, Dhoni has yet to feature this season, sparking constant speculation about his fitness and potential return.

For a side struggling with inconsistency and injuries, Dhoni’s presence could be a game-changer. CSK have dropped crucial matches due to a lack of finishing firepower, a role Dhoni has mastered over the years. The franchise has added to the intrigue by sharing regular training clips, subtly hinting that their veteran leader is nearing full fitness.
One such video showing Dhoni actively keeping wickets in the nets caught significant attention. According to Ravichandran Ashwin, this is a strong indication that Dhoni is ready to return, possibly in the high-profile clash against the Mumbai Indians.

Ravichandran Ashwin, speaking on his YouTube channel, expressed confidence in Dhoni’s availability. “I’ve never seen MS Dhoni keeping wickets in the nets. That clearly means he’s preparing to play. I’m 100 percent sure he will feature against Mumbai Indians,” he said.

He further highlighted the impact Dhoni could bring to a struggling CSK lineup. “Against SRH, CSK lacked a finisher. If you need 15 off five balls, Dhoni is still someone who can deliver. That ability hasn’t gone anywhere,” Ravichandran Ashwin added.
Despite the optimism, CSK might still manage his workload carefully, possibly using him as an Impact Player. However, Ashwin believes Dhoni’s involvement in batting, running, and wicketkeeping drills signals complete recovery.

With just two wins from six matches, CSK currently sit in the lower half of the table. As they prepare to face Mumbai Indians, all eyes remain firmly on Dhoni — and whether the legendary figure will once again walk out to lead his side when it matters most.
