Delhi Capitals’ seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur carried far more emotional weight than just two points on the table. Captain Axar Patel and head coach Hemang Badani paid heartfelt tributes to two young fans, Yagya Bhatia and Abhav Bhatia, who tragically lost their lives earlier this week.

The victory not only ended DC’s three-match losing streak but also became a moment of remembrance for the two supporters, who were closely associated with the franchise’s fan community. Speaking after the match, Axar acknowledged the emotional impact of the incident and dedicated the win to their memory.

“I want to express my deepest condolences. This victory is dedicated to them—they were part of our DC family.” The gesture reflected how deeply the loss resonated within the team environment, extending beyond cricketing boundaries.

Inside the dressing room, Badani echoed similar sentiments, addressing the players with a message that underlined the bond between the team and its supporters.

“This win is for Yagya and Abhav. You’ve made them proud—they were passionate DC fans.” His words highlighted the connection modern franchises share with their fanbases, in which supporters are seen as an extension of the team itself.

The tragic incident occurred when the two cousins—20-year-old Yagya and 14-year-old Abhav—were returning home after attending a Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match in Delhi. According to reports, their motorcycle was struck by a truck near Ashoka Road in a hit-and-run case. Both were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Members of the ‘DC Toli’ fan group, the cousins were well known among fellow supporters and regularly followed the team. While the result in Jaipur was crucial for DC’s campaign, the night ultimately belonged to remembrance. In dedicating the win, the team ensured that the passion and presence of two loyal fans would not be forgotten.
