Stephen Fleming also pointed out that the franchise’s investment in Kartik during the auction reflected the belief in his potential, something that was evident in this high-pressure game. “He’s a fine player. You could see both his skill and temperament tonight, and he’ll only improve from here,” Fleming noted.

The match also marked the IPL debut of Ramakrishna Ghosh, who impressed with the ball. The all-rounder delivered three tidy overs, conceding 24 runs and picking up the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.
