Lungi Ngidi provided a timely breakthrough for Delhi Capitals by dismissing the dangerous Finn Allen during the crucial IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. KKR had started aggressively in their chase with Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen attacking the Delhi bowlers inside the powerplay.

Allen, known for his fearless approach, looked in complete control early in the innings and quickly put pressure on the Capitals with a flurry of boundaries. The New Zealand opener smashed three fours and a six during his quickfire stay at the crease. However, just when KKR appeared to be cruising, Ngidi used his experience brilliantly to pull things back for Delhi.

On the second ball of the fifth over, the South African pacer delivered a sharp, good-length ball around the off-stump channel. The delivery skidded slightly after pitching, making it difficult for Allen to free his arms completely. Attempting another attacking shot over mid-on, the batter badly mistimed his stroke.

The ball took a faint inside edge before crashing onto the stumps, ending Allen’s entertaining knock on 20 runs from just 13 deliveries. The wicket gave Delhi Capitals a much-needed opening in an important game where KKR are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Despite losing Allen early, Kolkata continued to maintain a healthy scoring rate during the powerplay, with Rahane anchoring the innings from one end. Delhi, meanwhile, looked eager to capitalise on the breakthrough and build pressure through their bowling attack.
