Gujarat Titans fast bowler Mohammed Siraj delivered the perfect start for his team in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 by dismissing Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the very first over of the match at the New Chandigarh Stadium on Friday, May 29. The early breakthrough immediately shifted momentum towards the Gujarat Titans in the high-pressure knockout clash.

Siraj struck on the fourth ball of the innings with a sharp short delivery that hurried Jaiswal into an awkward pull shot. The Rajasthan Royals batter failed to time the stroke properly and miscued the ball towards deep square leg, where Prasidh Krishna completed a safe catch. Jaiswal walked back after scoring just one run, leaving RR under early pressure.
The wicket further highlighted Siraj’s outstanding IPL 2026 campaign. The Gujarat Titans pacer has consistently delivered with the new ball this season and has now taken 18 wickets in 16 matches. GT had retained Siraj for INR 12.25 crore ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, and the experienced seamer has fully justified the franchise’s faith with his performances.
Kagiso Rabada soon joined the party as the Gujarat Titans continued their aggressive start with the ball. The South African speedster dismissed Dhruv Jurel for seven runs, helping GT tighten their grip during the Powerplay overs.

Despite the early setbacks, the Rajasthan Royals managed to recover through the aggressive batting of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the experienced Ravindra Jadeja. At the time of writing, RR were 82/2 after eight overs, with Sooryavanshi once again looking dangerous at the crease.
Rajasthan Royals entered Qualifier 2 full of confidence after defeating SunRisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in the Eliminator, powered by Sooryavanshi’s explosive 97 off just 29 balls. Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, were looking to bounce back strongly after suffering a heavy 92-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1.
The winner of the contest will face defending champions RCB in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31.
