Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill delivered another masterclass under pressure on Friday, smashing his fifth Indian Premier League century during the high-stakes IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 clash against Rajasthan Royals. Chasing a daunting target of 215, Gill produced a captain’s knock that kept Gujarat Titans firmly in control for most of the innings. The GT skipper reached his hundred in style with his 15th boundary of the innings and also struck three sixes during his sensational knock.

Gill eventually scored 104 off just 53 deliveries before falling LBW to Jofra Archer shortly after completing his century. Gill’s innings was built around a breathtaking 167-run opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan, a stand that completely shifted the momentum of the chase in Gujarat Titans’ favour. The duo attacked from the outset and made the steep target look surprisingly manageable.
Sai Sudharsan set the tone early by taking on Jofra Archer in the opening over. The Gujarat Titans opener smashed four boundaries in Archer’s first over as GT collected 19 runs immediately. Gill soon joined the attack, striking consecutive boundaries against the England pacer and ensuring RR never settled with the ball.

Despite hitting their first six only in the ninth over, Gill and Sudharsan maintained an exceptional scoring rate through clever placement and aggressive strokeplay. Gujarat Titans raced to 69 runs in the Powerplay and stayed comfortably ahead of the required rate throughout the partnership.
However, the match witnessed another bizarre moment involving Sudharsan. After already suffering a hit-wicket dismissal against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, the left-hander endured the exact same fate again. While attempting a shot off Brijesh Sharma in the 13th over, Sudharsan lost control of his bat, which crashed directly into the stumps.

Gill was visibly stunned by the dismissal as the massive partnership finally came to an end. The GT captain then brought up his century with a boundary against Ravindra Jadeja, continuing his superb IPL 2026 campaign in yet another crucial playoff encounter.

Shubman Gill scores a 50-ball hundred… and that’s how you know the IPL is finished as serious cricket.
Flat tracks, part-time bowlers, and millionaire “attackers” getting tonked like club level net bowlers.
This isn’t T20, it’s a batting charity event with zero contest. Pure…

Why Shubman Gill can’t play T20I despite being the most consistent batter of IPL post-Covid? pic.twitter.com/hgi7t1Ebsq

I gotta feel bad for CSK fans, who wanted to troll Shubman Gill for disrespecting their team & he scored 100 to take his team to Final.
Now there is unreal dilemma for them as Virat Kohli is one side & Shubman Gill is on another. If they hype Gill to troll Virat then they will…
