While Royal Challengers Bengaluru celebrated their second consecutive IPL title in Ahmedabad, one of the biggest stories of IPL 2026 belonged to a teenager who wasn’t even part of the final. Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi capped off a remarkable season by sweeping multiple individual honours during the post-match awards ceremony, further cementing his status as the breakout star of the tournament.

At just 15 years of age, Sooryavanshi delivered one of the most dominant batting campaigns in IPL history. His sensational performances throughout the season earned him five major awards, highlighting the incredible impact he made for the Rajasthan Royals. The young left-hander walked away with the Most Valuable Player award, the Orange Cap, the Emerging Player of the Season honour, the Super Striker of the Season trophy, and the award for hitting the most sixes in the tournament.

It was a clean sweep that reflected both his consistency and his fearless approach at the crease. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi finished IPL 2026 with a staggering 776 runs from 16 innings. More impressively, he scored those runs at a breathtaking strike rate, regularly dismantling some of the world’s best bowling attacks. His tally of 72 sixes also rewrote the record books, surpassing the previous benchmark for most maximums in a single IPL season.

Even though Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan enjoyed outstanding campaigns and reached the final, neither batter could overtake Sooryavanshi’s run tally. As a result, the Orange Cap remained firmly in the Rajasthan Royals star’s possession.

In claiming the award, Sooryavanshi also became the youngest Orange Cap winner in IPL history. At just 15 years and 65 days old, he comfortably broke the previous record held by Sai Sudharsan, who won the accolade at 23 years and 231 days.

However, one of the most memorable moments of the evening came away from the trophies. During a light-hearted interaction on stage, former India head coach Ravi Shastri jokingly asked the youngster about the secret behind his extraordinary power-hitting.

“Aap kitna doodh pite ho roz?” Ravi Shastri asked. The teenager’s response immediately drew laughter from the crowd. “Main ab doodh nahi pita,” Sooryavanshi replied with a smile.

Five awards, a record-breaking Orange Cap, and a viral one-liner — IPL 2026 was truly the season of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
