Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s sensational IPL 2026 campaign continues to earn praise from the biggest names in Indian cricket. The latest to hail the teenage prodigy is BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who assured that the board will provide every possible opportunity to help the 15-year-old fulfil his enormous potential and reach the highest level of the game.

Representing Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi emerged as the standout performer of IPL 2026. The left-handed opener finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer, amassing a staggering 776 runs while maintaining an extraordinary strike rate of 237.30. His fearless batting, consistency, and ability to dominate world-class bowling attacks made him one of the most talked-about players of the season.
The youngster also made history as the youngest-ever recipient of the Orange Cap. At just 15 years and 65 days old, Sooryavanshi broke the previous record held by Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan, who won the award at 23 years and 231 days of age during the previous season.

Speaking after the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad, Devajit Saikia praised the teenager’s rapid rise and highlighted the BCCI’s commitment to nurturing exceptional young talent. “Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a wonderful player coming up, and he has a bright future. BCCI will do everything to get him to the highest level of cricket,” Saikia said.
The BCCI secretary also congratulated Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their remarkable achievement after Rajat Patidar’s side successfully defended the IPL title. RCB defeated Gujarat Titans in the final to become only the third franchise in tournament history to win back-to-back championships.

“It was a wonderful season. I hope all the fans enjoyed this IPL, and congratulations to RCB for winning the tournament consecutively twice,” he added.
While the IPL has concluded, Indian cricket’s focus is already shifting towards the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Following their historic ODI World Cup triumph last year, expectations are high from Harmanpreet Kaur’s team as they chase another global title.
Saikia expressed confidence in the women’s side, stating that they can replicate their recent success on the world stage.
