Hardik Pandya has reportedly emerged as one of the hottest names in the IPL 2027 trade window, with multiple franchises expressing interest in signing the Mumbai Indians captain. According to recent reports, as many as seven IPL teams have approached the five-time champions to explore a potential deal, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) believed to be leading the race for the Indian all-rounder.

The speculation comes after a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign for the Mumbai Indians, who finished ninth on the points table after managing just four wins in 14 league matches. Pandya also endured a difficult season with both bat and ball, scoring 206 runs in 10 innings at an average of 22.89 while claiming only four wickets at an economy rate of 11.43.
Despite the underwhelming campaign, his proven leadership record continues to make him one of the most sought-after captains in franchise cricket. According to a report by DNA India, Kolkata Knight Riders have revived discussions with Mumbai Indians after an earlier attempt reportedly stalled due to scheduling conflicts around the Reliance AGM.

An IPL insider claimed that KKR have been searching for a long-term captain since Shreyas Iyer’s departure and now see Pandya as the ideal candidate to lead the franchise into a new era. Rajasthan Royals are also understood to have entered the conversation. Reports suggest the Jaipur-based franchise has even discussed a potential swap involving star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

However, one major hurdle remains. Rajasthan reportedly view Riyan Parag as their long-term captain, meaning Pandya may have to give up leadership responsibilities if he joins the Royals—something that could influence his decision.
Pandya’s captaincy credentials remain among the strongest in the IPL. He guided the Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in their debut season in 2022 before returning to the Mumbai Indians as captain ahead of the 2024 edition. His experience of leading successful T20 sides makes him an attractive option for franchises looking to rebuild around an established leader.

While trade rumours continue to gather momentum, neither the Mumbai Indians nor any of the franchises linked with Pandya have officially confirmed negotiations. Under IPL regulations, any trade requires approval from both franchises and the player, and all deals must be completed before the IPL 2027 mini-auction window closes in December. Until then, Pandya’s future is expected to remain one of the biggest talking points ahead of the next IPL season.
