England have named an unchanged playing XI for the third T20I against India at Trent Bridge, rewarding the same combination that secured a thrilling four-wicket victory in Manchester. With the hosts now leading the five-match series, captain Harry Brook has shown complete faith in the side that successfully chased down 191 to hand the reigning T20 World Cup champions another setback.

Despite opening batters Phil Salt and Jos Buttler both departing for ducks in the second T20I, England have retained the experienced pair at the top of the order. The confidence within the camp has been boosted by impressive performances from the middle order, where Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton played decisive roles in the successful chase.

Jacob Bethell remained unbeaten on 76, while Banton’s fluent 39 helped England recover from early trouble and seize control of the contest. England have also resisted the temptation to tweak their bowling attack. Debutant fast bowler Josh Tongue, who conceded 46 runs in four overs, and veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid, who returned figures of 0/21 from two overs, have both retained their places for the Trent Bridge clash.

India posted a competitive total of 190/7 after recovering from an early collapse. Abhishek Sharma scored 43, Ishan Kishan contributed 49, and Shreyas Iyer added 37, while debutant Vaibhav Sooryavanshi impressed with a quickfire 14. Tilak Varma then provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 24, including 17 runs in the final over.

However, England responded strongly despite losing Salt and Buttler inside the opening overs to Arshdeep Singh. Brook’s aggressive 39 shifted the momentum before Bethell and Banton combined for a match-winning 67-run partnership. Ravi Bishnoi’s costly 17th over, which leaked 29 runs, proved to be the turning point as England completed the chase with an over to spare.

India are now expected to consider changes for the third T20I. Ravi Bishnoi could make way after his expensive spell, with Washington Sundar or Prince Yadav emerging as possible replacements. The batting order may also undergo a reshuffle, as the current top order features several left-handers. Sanju Samson is in contention for a recall to restore right-left balance, while all-rounder Suryansh Shedge remains another option as India look to level the series.

England Playing XI: Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook (captain), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Josh Tongue.
