Social media influencer Akriti Agarwal has firmly denied rumours claiming that Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw cheated on her, saying the speculation was based on assumptions and had unfairly damaged the batter’s image. After a series of cryptic Instagram posts triggered fresh gossip about their relationship, Agarwal stepped in with a clear public statement to set the record straight.

Agarwal and Shaw had announced their engagement in a joint post on March 8, 2026, and her recent comments about betrayal and heartbreak led many social media users to believe the couple had split. However, she has now clarified that the two are still engaged and remain together, urging people not to spread false narratives without any proof.

Taking to Instagram, Agarwal explained that she never named Shaw in her earlier posts and never said their engagement had ended. She wrote that people had jumped to conclusions after reading too much into her stories, which she said were not meant to target her fiancé directly.

“Just want to clear something up. I never mentioned my fiancé’s name, nor did I say that our engagement was called off or that we had separated. It was unfortunate that many people assumed it was about him. We are happy together, still engaged, and doing absolutely fine,” she stated.

She also highlighted how quickly a public figure’s reputation can be affected by online speculation. According to Agarwal, even a vague post without names or context can spark a storm on social media and cause unfair damage, especially when people are eager to believe the worst. She added that she did not want to issue a clarification at first, but felt compelled to speak out once Shaw’s dignity became the subject of repeated online discussion.

The rumours gathered pace after Agarwal posted a few Instagram Stories about cheating and betrayal. Although she never identified Shaw, many users linked the posts to the India batter. The situation escalated further when fans noticed that she had briefly unfollowed him on Instagram before following him again.

Shaw, meanwhile, has continued to deal with challenges off the field as well. The right-handed opener has faced criticism over discipline and fitness, and his cricket career has not followed the rise many once expected.
