Prince Yadav delivered another important moment for Team India in the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, proving once again why the young pacer is quickly becoming one of the most promising names in India’s fast-bowling pool. Making only his second appearance in T20Is, Yadav removed England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler with a superb delivery that clean-bowled the experienced opener during the powerplay.

Buttler had started the contest positively and looked set for another fluent innings in the five-match series. However, Prince Yadav produced an absolute beauty to end the England batter’s stay. Buttler scored 36 off 21 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes before his stumps were sent flying. England lost their first wicket for 44, and India immediately gained the upper hand with the ball.

Yadav’s wicket was especially significant because this was his first outing in the ongoing T20I series after missing the first two matches. The pacer was brought into the playing XI in place of Ravi Bishnoi, who had endured a tough outing in the previous game. India captain Shreyas Iyer defended the decision at the toss and said the team continued to support players even after a setback.

“We’re going to bowl first. That (last game) was just a hiccup which you can’t control, and you definitely have to back your bowler. He’s thinking a bit too much, but I know everyone goes through that patch. The boys are in high spirits anyway. I had a chat with him. Every player goes through that phase in their life, so it’s a great learning for him as well and for the team,” Iyer said.

England skipper Harry Brook also admitted that the toss did not bother his side too much. He said the hosts were prepared to bat first had they won the toss, but he was satisfied with the team’s all-round performance in the previous match.

“We were a little bit indecisive, to be honest. I was glad I lost the toss, but we would have had a bat. I thought it was an excellent performance from everybody involved. We fielded outstandingly and bowled really well, especially through the middle phase, which is an area we wanted to improve. Then to knock off those runs was awesome,” Brook said.

Prince Yadav’s timely strike gave India early momentum and added more excitement to an already intense India vs England T20I series.
