India pacer Gurnoor Brar delivered another crucial breakthrough by dismissing England captain Harry Brook during the second ODI at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Thursday. The young fast bowler continued his impressive form, helping India strengthen their position while defending a target of 234.

The breakthrough came on the fourth ball of the 11th over. Bowling at an impressive speed of 146 kmph, Brar produced a sharp back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump. Brook attempted an ambitious scoop shot by moving well across his stumps, but the extra pace caught him by surprise. The ball brushed his gloves before carrying safely to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who completed a straightforward catch.
Brook’s innings ended at 16 off 16 deliveries, featuring two boundaries and a six. His dismissal reduced England to 53/3, putting the hosts under significant pressure early in the chase.

Before Brook’s dismissal, he and Joe Root had stitched together a 45-run partnership that briefly steadied the innings. However, Brar’s timely strike halted England’s recovery and handed the momentum back to India. At 60/3 after 13 overs, England still required 174 runs, with Root holding one end while Sam Curran looked to rebuild the innings.
